Big Band Jazz at the Blue Star Brewery
The Blue Star Brewing Company is THE home of Big Band Jazz in San Antonio.
Every Tuesday evening from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM San Antonio's finest musicians
gather to perform big band jazz arrangements from the libraries of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Duke
Ellington, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and even Glen Miller. In addition, the bands perform
compositions of contemporary big band arrangers. Big Band jazz Page
- On the First Tuesday, the Crimson Jazz Orchestra is led by George Briscoe.
- On the Second Tuesday, the River City Big Band, led by baritone saxophonist and MD Merritt "Murph" Davis.
- On the Third Tuesday, the San Antonio Jazz Orchestra performs, co-led by George DeRocher,
Rick Horn and Dale Schultz.
- On the Fourth Tuesday, the Primetime Jazz Orchestra, led by saxophonist
and world traveler John Magaldi
- On the Fifth Tuesday, the Lamplighters, led by saxophone soloist Bill Holman.
- Recently added is the "Second Wednesday" The Mixed Emotions Big Band conducted by Mike Brumbaugh, Ed Sherry & Todd Dunn

The Blue Star Brewing Company participates in one of
San Antonio's on-going premiere events: Southtown's First Friday. Central
to our monthly celebration is our "Live from the Deck" concerts featuring
some of the area's finest contemporary bands, including:
